Summary:
The Environmental Training Manager will develop, deliver, and manage a world-class environmental training program through a variety of techniques to ensure that the Program team has the knowledge and capabilities to achieve the Project goals and fulfill the Project obligations with respect to the environmental scope.
Core Role Responsibilities/ Accountability:
- Identify and assess organizational knowledge needs through a variety of methods including review of Program environmental obligations and requirements and consultation with team and staff.
- Develop training policies, procedures, KPIs, goals and targets.
- Develop an environmental training curriculum based on the Project’s educational needs and goals.
- Develop training and awareness content including manuals, publications, bulletins, and other materials.
- Identify and implement effective and purposeful educational methods.
- Evaluate training outcomes to ensure that training KPIs and targets are achieved.
- Enable continuous improvement in performance.
- Assess environmental awareness and competence of Project team members and identify areas of improvement.
- Drive environmental values and philosophy through all training and development activities.
- Effectively communicate with team members, trainers and management.
- Keep abreast of emerging trends and best practices in the training industry.
- Effectively manage the environmental training budget as required.
Requirements
Required/Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a physical or natural resource related field preferably in science or engineering.
- Degree / diploma / certificates in the fields of teaching or education.
- Environmental certifications such as IEMA, CEnv., REP / REM, QAES, CPESC, etc. would be an asset.
- Advanced degrees or management qualifications (PMP, MBA, other) would be an asset.
Required/ Desired Skills and Experience:
- At least 15 years of combined experience, a substantial amount of which constitutes management of the environmental compliance of civil infrastructure development Projects/Programs.
- Substantial experience in developing and implementing educational, training and awareness programs in a natural-resource related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
- Skilled in visual communications and presentation, and ability to translate complex ideas in non-technical terms.
- Skilled in the application of industry standard tools, methods and best practices in education and teaching.
- Excellent attention to detail.
