Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managerial, supervisory, advisory, and scientific assignments related to food risk assessment activities.
- Develop complex quantitative food safety risk assessments, risk-based statistical algorithms.
- Provide direct supervision and oversight, coordination, and support to staff in the conduct of complex and highly technical risk assessment activities.
- Function as a Senior Expert on quantitative risk assessment procedures,
policies, and activities within the food sector.
- Manage and evaluate the performance and conduct of personnel, enhancing individual staff performance through training as part of their individual development plans, ensure management controls are established and maintained, and provide daily administrative oversight and supervision within the food sector.
- Participate fully with the food sector in planning long range risk assessment and organizational goals, prioritizing annual risk assessment activities, resource planning, and establishing processes to either enhance the efficiency in which complex quantitative food risk assessments are developed or their effective use to support food safety decisions.
- Be able to plan and carry out full food safety monitoring program with all of its requirements with regard to personnel qualification and training, methods, manuals, instrumentation, and procedures (SOP's).
- Develop and write standard operating procedures (SOP's) related to food safety such as inspection procedures, recall, traceability and analytical methods.

Job Specification

Qualifications & Skills:
- Ph.D. degree in food science, food microbiology, food technology or other related disciplines.
- A minimum of ten (10) years experience related to food safety and risk assessments.
- Has experiences in risk assessment of physical-chemical properties, toxicological properties and exposure assessment, the area of residues and analytical methods.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to convey information in a concise, accurate and understandable manner.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to adjust to new and changing environments, priorities and/or ideas.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to accept additional responsibilities.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify areas of need/analyze problems, develop effective solutions and take action without immediate direction.
- A qualification in risk analysis program.
- Demonstrates openness to change and ability to work under pressure and to delivery results.
- Previous leadership roles in solving food safety issues with the demonstrated ability to influence.
- A working knowledge of international food law and regulations is required, as well as implementation of appropriate standards such as the Codex Alimentarius food standards.
- Adaptability and flexibility in working in complex and dynamic environment.
