ROLE PURPOSE:
Alters clothing to fit individual customers or repairs defective garments. Insuring a custom service to every clients demonstrating professionalism & offering personal advice.
KEY ROLE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Fit and study garments on customers to determine required alterations.
Measure customers, using tape measures, and record measurements.
Shortens or lengthens, expands or narrows, raises or lowers while maintaining drape and proportions of garment.
Repair or replace defective garment parts such as pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons, and linings.
Sew garments, using needles and thread or sewing machines.
Record required alterations and instructions on tags, and attach them to garments. Mark products, work pieces, or equipment with identifying information.
Examine tags on garments to determine alterations/materials that are needed.
Estimate how much a garment will take time & performs timely repairs on all items
Ensures that all items are repaired before issuing them to clients.
Press garments, using hand irons or pressing machines.
Put in padding and shaping materials.
Maintain and upkeep all sewing equipment’s
Organize and take inventory of all fabric materials
Inform manager for replenishing sewing supplies
Keep the tailoring area clean and tidy
Job Specification
Education : requires a high school diploma or its equivalent
Min. Experience and knowledge :
Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures
Candidate must be ideally qualified and trained with professional tailoring skills and made previous experiences in a similar position (2-4 years of experience)
