Job Objective:
Purchasing officer main objective is to obtain items and services needed for operation assuring best price, best quality and on time delivery
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
- Nurtures relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best prices for company
- Issue purchase order and follow up the status of orders and delivery schedule with vendors to ensure timely delivery.
- Look for new suppliers and work on qualifying them as approved suppliers.
- Establish and maintain long term business relationships with strategic suppliers.
- Make sure that Purchase Orders are sent to suppliers along with all necessary supporting documents such as drawings, specifications or terms and conditions to which some orders should comply to.
- Maintain good communication with internal requestors, to understand their requirements clearly and prioritize it according to their actual needs.
- Follow up with suppliers to assure timely deliveries as ordered, check all related documents for completeness and discrepancies in order to clear shipments and/or pay suppliers on time.
- Conduct routine supplier performance evaluations to update the approved suppliers list.
- Support the establishment and implementation of company’s procurement procedures and related policies.
- Liaise with foreign vendors and custom clearance coordinator to make sure that all documents needed for custom clearance are prepared and received properly and in time.
- Any other duties as assigned by the direct manager.
Scope:
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for contracting and execution of contract for services required by Durrah in the below areas:
- Annual maintenance contracts.
- Construction contracts.
- Maintenance and repair contracts.
- Consultancy and supervision services.
- Hire of equipment and projects manpower.
- Lease or rent services.
- Utilities supply agreements (LPG, NG, Water)
- IT services.
- Assets acquisition (Technical)
- Transportation amp; Logistics services.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s in supply chain management, logistics, engineering or business administration
(CIPS) accreditation is a plus
Experience: 5 years’ experience in Procurement
