Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities
- The central quality manager (QM) reports directly to the Executive Director and is in his function as QM not subordinated to any other supervisor;
- He coordinates the development and implementation of the quality management policy and of quality management systems with the support of the Executive Director and cooperates with staffs in charge of quality management in the components of the Authority;
- The quality manager develops the quality manual with the support and input of the management of the Authority and on the basis of international norms (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17020, ISO 17025);
- He maintains an up to date collection of all standard operational procedures and makes relevant SOPs available to the organisational units.
- He prepares the specialised sectors of the Authority and the Authority as a whole for accreditation and proposes the necessary measures for the maintenance and extension of scope of accreditations;
- He assists the Management in the conduct of regular internal audits of the performance of the system and organises the contacts with the accreditation bodies chosen;
- He promotes the use of validated standards in laboratories.
- Development, documentation and management of the quality system; Ensuring participatory performance of laboratory staff for quality improvement through quality circle discussions.
- Arranging regular audits and follow up on audit findings; Arrangement of the annual management review meeting and follow up of decisions taken at the meetings to ensure improvements in the quality management system.
- Arranging with the technical manager the Proficiency Testing programs and follow up actions based on results of Proficiency testing.

Job Specification

Qualifications & Skills:
- Ph.D. degree in Science.
- A minimum of ten years experience in laboratory work.
- Trained on quality management systems.
- Experience in laboratory management system (ISO 17025).
- Hands on specialized training on quality management in laboratories.
- Experience in chemical laboratory preferably food chemical laboratories.
- Excellent spoken and written English with excellent communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to adjust to new and changing environments, priorities and/or ideas.
- Flexibility and willingness to accept additional responsibilities.
- Preferably, attendance of training courses, workshops relevant to the field of work.
- Working knowledge of laboratory methods and procedures.
- Working knowledge of the types of laboratory equipment essential to the operation of clinical or environmental laboratories.
