Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be able to plan and carry out full national monitoring program of pesticide residues in food with all of its requirements with regard to personnel qualification and training, methods, manuals, instrumentation and procedures (SOP's).
- Conduct food safety and quality evaluations on pesticides.
- Profound knowledge in international laws and regulations related to pesticides and pesticide residues in foods.
- Has adequate knowledge in field inspections and can evaluate techniques for pesticide application.
- Evaluate and validate new methodologies for the analysis of organic compounds in biological and environmental matrices, including Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA).
- Evaluate and validate developed analytical methodologies for the analysis of pesticide residues in food.
- Design and plan pesticides registration procedures.
- Prepare and conduct analysis of pesticide residues and has a thorough knowledge of the chemical and physical properties of pesticide formulations.
- Ability to write standard operating procedures (SOP's) for pesticide residue analysis for imported and locally produced foods. Also has the ability to develop plan and write SOP's to recall and/or trace back contaminated food products .
- Prepare and carry out normal and advance training for technicians in the field of pesticide residue analysis.
- Develop and conduct training modules for Saudi counterparts related to pesticides residues monitoring.
- Be able to evaluate and review research papers and final reports related to food safety in relation to pesticide residues.
- Maintain and develop database of food chemical environment contaminates.
Job Specification
Qualifications & Skills:
- Ph.D. degree in pesticides, chemistry or organic chemistry, analytical toxicology, food chemistry or other related disciplines.
- A minimum of ten (10) years experience related to residue analysis and monitoring program.
- Analytical chemistry R&D compliant with Good Laboratory Practice.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to convey information in a concise, accurate and understandable manner.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to adjust to new and changing environments, priorities and/or ideas. Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to accept additional responsibilities.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify areas of need/analyze problems, develop effective solutions and take action without immediate direction.
- Demonstrates openness to change and ability to work under pressure.
- Previous leadership roles in solving food safety issues with the demonstrated ability to influence.
- A working knowledge of international food safety and pesticides residues law and regulations is required, as well as implementation of appropriate standards such as the Codex Alimentarius food standards.
- Adaptability and flexibility in working in complex and dynamic environment.
