Job Summary:

The Chief of Staff to the COO (CoS) is responsible for facilitating the execution of the COO’s strategic priorities through relationship building, communications, project management, and problem solving particularly with reference to the Firm’s activities in MENA. This person will serve as the right hand to the COO for her most important priorities related to the strategic roadmap for the Company, including the day to day operations of various regions, business units, and special projects.

The role will be based in the Middle East (and will require the candidate to be based in either the UAE or KSA upon direction of the firm). This position will involve frequent travel.

The CoS will support the COO acting as a strategist, consultant and implementer, to ensure streamlined activities across the MENA region primarily, although may extend across the organization based on the COO’s strategic priorities. They will contribute to the long-term success of the company by focusing on scaling operational infrastructure, as well as our expansion into new markets and products by seamlessly moving between strategic and tactical roadmaps.

We work at an incredible pace so you this person will need to be a self-starter with excellent EQ, written, verbal and visual communication skills, strong time management skills, uncanny attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and above all, flexibility and discretion. This role may require non-standard working hours across multiple time zones and significant travel.

Responsibilities:

Overall the role is expected to be fluid and the candidate needs to be flexible and willing to perform varying duties depending on the shifting needs of the company, however, expected duties amp; responsibilities will include the following:

  • Act as an advisor to the COO, assisting her in facilitating effective decision making and implementation and working on the projects and strategy in the MENA region that are her highest priorities.
  • Developing, managing and implementing successful and consistent operational processes, systems, tools, playbooks, solutions and programs to make functions and projects more effective.
  • To co-ordinate and project manage the execution of assigned strategic initiatives, with specific responsibility for cross-functional delivery of key projects, ensuring smooth collaboration across multiple geographies and teams, tracking performance and successful completion of short- and long-term goals reporting back to the COO on progress, blockers and risks.
  • Organize and gather information from various departments and meetings on assigned strategic priorities and reports that information, along with recommendations, to the COO
  • Oversee the research and preparation of decks and briefing materials on strategic priorities or investor relations matters for upcoming meetings and events, draft event briefings and talking points, and ensure the COO is well prepared for internal and external events, including slide deck for quarterly board meetings
  • Handles inquiries and routine/complex responsibilities as delegated by the COO.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Chief of Staff highly preferred, or, in exceptional cases, extraordinary experience in a mix of Operations, Strategy, Business Development
  • You have an extensive experience in a fast growing startup with broad cross-functional responsibilities covering strategy, corporate development, product, and operations
  • You have an extensive project management experience leading key company-wide initiatives such as building new departments, launching new products and geographies
  • You have excellent communication skills - experience building relationships across departments and resolve conflicts
  • You have a track record of very strong problem solving and analytical skills: proven ability to break problems down into components and propose elegant solutions in a fast paced, ever changing environment
