What We Need

MENA has been a cornerstone of 500 Startups global expansion strategy. With a presence in the region since 2013, today we have become one of the most active investors in the region. To continue to provide transformational support to our regional portfolio of tech startups, we are looking for an amazing individual to join 500 MENA as a Portfolio Manager. This role will be involved in the selection process of our accelerator programs in the region and be responsible for supporting the portfolio of accelerator companies.

This position is located in Riyadh, KSA.

You are passionate about entrepreneurship and supporting founders through investment and ecosystem-building activities. You have experience analyzing business models for investment or accelerator programs. You enjoy building communities. You have exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information, confidentially. You have an extraordinary ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and the ability to change focus quickly as demands change. You enjoy a work environment that is fast-paced; you help create an amazing, positive workplace.

Ultimately, you will gain portfolio management, community-building and investment experience by supporting and improving all portfolio management functions. And, you will have fun!

What You Will Be Doing (people are our priority, so we want to make sure we’re taking care of them):

• Consistently review portfolio performance and needs, supporting founders on topics such as fundraising, mentorship and access to resources
• Process and manage investment memos
• Support the building of the portfolio founder community and 500 brand in the region
• Creating reports for finance and our investors (LPs)
• Distill market insights from our portfolio that help make better investment decisions
• Support the review of incoming deal-flow and make recommendations to the investment team
• Work with other portfolio managers across 500 Startups Global team

Requirements

• Bachelors or similar degree in finance, business or related areas
• 4 years of professional experience in a rigorous, analytical, high performing environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to bring people together across multiple stakeholders
• Entrepreneurial and creative in terms of identifying resources and finding solutions
• Excellent ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing and creating processes so nothing falls through the cracks

Nice to have

• Experience as founder or have good experience in a startup
  
• Experience as portfolio manager
• Experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or management consulting is a plus
• Experience living and/or working internationally
• Ability to speak widely-used business languages other than English
