Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE & CONTEXT:

The purpose of the role is to provide program management, leadership and direction for highly visible, complex strategic initiatives and drive end-to-end cross-functional program management and operational excellence, to solve complex business problems that are top-of-mind for our executives. The role will provide oversight of transformation implementation across various programs within the respective Business Unit. This will include leadership reporting, scheduling, benefits tracking and reporting, issues and risk Management, etc. as well as coaching and capability building in modern, effective program and project management techniques.

KEY ROLE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

Accountabilities

Manage strategic, transformational programs

Facilitate the creation and approval of complex business cases within the program, and coordinate the sharing of resources among projects

Establish, maintain, and influence program stakeholder relationships, expectations, and communications, both internal and external to the organization

Develop a high-level intergraded milestone plan for the program and manage program

Execute program plans (quality, risk, communication, staffing, etc.) and capture and communicate program status and data in order to maintain accurate and current program information for the use of stakeholders

Obtain approval for the program and actively manage program benefits and issues in partnership with business partners

Serve as a subject matter expert in project and program management, including guiding and mentoring Initiative owners; sourcing and directing contract resources tied to projects within the program; and develop expertise

Coordinate stakeholder engagements Update transformation management tools regularly to

ensure regular and timely updates through close coordination with transformation leads across the business

On-time delivery:

Fixed time projects

Exceeded expectations: Completed faster than planned

Good: Completed on-time

Acceptable: Insignificantly late

Poor: Significantly late

Agile projects

Exceeded expectations: Delays were virtually non-existent.

Good: Dependencies were managed so delays were minimal.

Acceptable: Delays sometimes affected the delivery of the team.

Poor: Delays constantly and heavily affected the delivery of the team.

On-budget

Exceeded expectations: Completed with savings of 10% or more, budget milestones were planned and achieved.

Good: Completed with 0-10% savings, budget milestones were planned and achieved.

Acceptable: Budget was exceeded by less than 10%, budget, milestones were planned but not achieved .

Poor: Budget was exceeded by more than 10%, budget milestones were not achieved.

Process improvements

Exceeded expectations: Third-party delays were virtually non-existent.

Good: Most third-party dependencies were managed, delays were minimal.

Acceptable: Third-party delays sometimes affected the delivery of the team.

Poor: Third-party delays constantly and heavily affected the delivery of the team.

Risk management

Exceeded expectations: Maintained a risk mitigation plan with clear actions and was able to clearly communicate their decisions.

Good: Maintained a risk mitigation plan but the responses to risks were not well thought-through or realistic.

Acceptable: Did not have a risk mitigation plan but had given some thought to it and was able to communicate at least some risks.

Poor: Did not think about risks and managed them ad-hoc when they arose.

Effective stakeholder relationships

Exceeded expectations: Engaged with other departments proactively and other departments engaged proactively with the program manager or their team.

Good: Engaged with other departments proactively.

Acceptable: Engaged with other departments reactively.

Poor: Rarely engaged with other departments

PERSON SPECIFIC:

Education: Degree level or higher – preferably in program or project management

Job Specification

Minimum Experience and Knowledge:

5+ years of professional project management experience, with at least 2 years of large program management experience (preferably within the automotive industry)

A deep understanding of transformation and initiative management

Full proficiency with Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Excel, Project and Word

Previously managed high-performing teams to delivery large business transformation programs

Job-Specific/Technical Skills required to complete the tasks:

Program Management Professional (PGMP) Certification and/or Green Belt, Black Belt, or Scrum Master Certification preferred

Proven expertise in usage of MS Office Suite and related project management systems (Preferably Microsoft Project Online Professional)

Experience supporting Organization Change Management teams to implement new operating models, roles and responsibilities.

Strong analytical thinking, problem solving, resourcefulness and time management capabilities

Proven record of delivering business impact

Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives

Excellent understanding and work experience with project budgets and financial management

Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization

Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment

Ability to anticipate conflict and resolving pending issues

Ability to operate well under ambiguity and to drive people towards an endpoint without conflict
